Yukon Presents An Opportunity for Discovering Rather Rare Placer Fields and Upstream Hard Rock Gold

Digging deeper for placer gold can be profitable. Sometimes the term placer mining means just that. It is easy to disappear from view in a waterway digging for placer. But there is an article at Gold Investing News that is really interesting.
Because of the Yukon's location and geology, much of it has been sparsely explored. The sources of many of the placer gold fields are unknown. A lot of placer gold has been found, but there is a lot left to be discovered. The holy grail is the source of the placer. Annual production of placer gold in the area is around 100,000 troy ounces.
