Treasure Hunting in Georgia

The land of Southern Appalachia is wild. And some of the wildest is in the Smokey Mountains. There are the Southern Blueridge Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, and then in Georgia proper:
Andersonville NHS
Appalachian National Scenic Trail
Chattahoochee River National Rec Area
Chickamauga and Chattanooga Natl Military Park
Cumberland Island National Seashore
Fort Frederica NM
Fort Pulaski NM
Jimmy Carter NHS
Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
Martin Luther King Jr NHS
Ocmulgee NM
Trail of Tears National Historic Trail
But even though spring and fall bring magnificent natural color to the forest and pastures, there is a treasure of semi-precious and precious gems, minerals, collectible rocks, and gold and diamonds!

Analyzing the Area for Pay Dirt

This is an article I wrote about finding gold in the Southwest. It has been read over 25,000 times and copied just as many. If you are relatively new to the hobby of recreational prospecting, you might want to read it. If you are a pro, the photos are good and you might see something of interest.

Just One More Joke

A woman walks into a store to return a pair of eyeglasses that she had purchased for her husband the week before. "What seems to be the problem, madam?"

"I'm returning these glasses I bought here for my husband. They're defective!"

"Defective?" said the optometrist?
"How could that be? I made them myself."

"That may be all well and good," she said. "But he's still not seeing things my way!"

Jail Joke

Sneaky
An inmate at a prison had a habit of getting out of work by being sick. First it was a tooth ache, and the prison dentist had to pull a tooth. Then the man came down with appendicitis and they had to remove his appendix. Following that were a rash of incidents ranging from tonsillitis and surgery to remove his tonsils to having one of his toes cut off in a freak accident.

The warden pulled the head guard aside and said, "We better watch that man."

The head guard replied, "Why?"

"I think he's trying to escape one piece at a time."

19th Century AZ Gold Prospecting Companions

You may be aware of all the pejoratives used in reference to donkeys. For instance, "He was an a_ _!"
Or, "She was dumber than a m_ _ e!" Well, I am not convinced the pejoratives are well-placed. From my readings, I figure the burro has something to be proud of and isn't quite as dull as reported. Here is my latest article about the Gold Prospector's Burro. https://hubpages.com/education/Indispensable-Companion-The-Gold-Prospectors-Burro Hope you enjoy it.

The Silver Mines of Tombstone, Arizona

You may know of Tombstone Arizona as the place where the OK Coral firefight occurred, and certainly everyone knows of Wyatt Earp, et al. But the town "Too tough to die" became because of silver. There are a number of old mines outside the town. You need to read the Wikipedia summary of its history. It is thorough and has lots of photographs.
