A Treasure of Free Gold Prospecting Equipment Plans and Commentary-- I gold prospected in Arizona 15 years. Am on a budget working on success mining. If you want gas money, cut corners to get to the claims. I began homemade equipment in 2008. First just looked at other folks' equipment; copied on my own. Took tape measure to a meeting or an outing & measured parts. I looked for plans on the Net. Posting commentary on free plans is offered. URLs are here too.

Joke, The Old Gold Prospector
An old prospector shuffled into town leading an old tired mule. The old man headed straight for the only saloon in town to clear his parched throat. He walked up to the saloon and tied his old mule to the hitch rail.
As he stood there brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The young gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, 'Hey old man, have you ever danced?'
The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, 'No, I never did dance, -- and just never wanted to.' A crowd had gathered quickly and the gunslinger grinned and said, 'Well, you old fool, you're gonna' dance now,' and started shooting at the old man's feet.
The old prospector in order to not get a toe blown off or his boots perforated was soon hopping around like a flea on a hot skillet and everybody was laughing fit to be tied. When the last bullet had been fired the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man turned to his pack mule, pulled out a double barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers back. The loud, audible double clicks carried clearly through the desert air.
The crowd stopped laughing immediately. The young gunslinger heard the sounds, too, and he turned around very slowly. The quiet was almost deafening.
The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old timer and the large gaping holes of those twin barrels. He found it hard to swallow.. The barrels of the shotgun never wavered in the old man's hands.
The old man said, 'Son, did you ever kiss a mule's ass?'
The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, 'No. But I've always wanted to.'

Is There Gold in New York? You Bet! See the Vial
"However, the little gold that has been found in New York State results from glacial deposition following the retreat of the last ice age, some 10,000 years ago. Gold is therefore scattered around the region with no real way to predict hot-spots."

After 8 hours of work, here is verification that there is gold in New York. Click the vial photo to see the results. http://www.goldfeverprospecting.com/nogoinnywhos.html

A Recent Discovery, Almost Like Gold!!
I drink a lot of coffee, and I suspect many of you guys and gals do too. In as much as that can be a common prospector habit, here is my discovery.
I have had a canker sore in my mouth at the end of the day for years. I can wake up in the morning and be fine, but by the end of the day it is back. I tried and experiment.
My mother always extolled the virtues of Yuban coffee (get nothing for this advertisement!). My usual coffee is the house brand version due to price. I decided to buy the more expensive version to see if it would make a difference to my mouth.
Well, after one day I saw results. I have been drinking it for 2 months now with not a single canker sore. I guess the cheaper coffees have more acid in the beans? Anyway, Mom was right. She had 2 cans - one for everyday that was cheap, and one for company that was more expensive.
Maybe you do get what you pay for when it comes to coffee? True for me at any rate!
I did my duty and shared. If it helps one person eliminate a canker sore, it was worth it.
Happy Mother's Day early since I will probably forget up until the day.

Blow Mining - A New Twist on Gold Nugget Hunting
I found an interesting article at the New 49er's website about blow mining. The author shows how you can use a motor, a hose, and a blaster nozzle to build a device to blow mine. The idea is to blow material out of the way to get to the surface of the bedrock. Then you can work the cracks without moving all of the debris with your hands. The fanning and raking is minimized.
As I see it, you could also move the debris out of the way searching for nuggets. The power setting will not blow the heavy gold away. Anyway, this is worth reading.

Look for Ancient Waterways and Abandoned Gold Ore Piles
Two new articles on gold prospecting. I offer my thoughts on where your next gold prospecting adventure might be. I explain what I have learned about ancient waterways and some places to explore if you are bored with the usual gold prospecting outlets.
