Arizona Gold Prospectors Have a Dandy Way to Make Your Own Highly Effective Mini-Sluice on the Cheap

There is beauty in simplification. I once had a friend who was a mathematician who would comment about a solution being "elegant". The word seems to fit this situation to a T.
A mini-sluice is a fairly cheap thing to buy (molded plastic, a couple pieces of moss with clips to hold it in, and a metal shoot, usually, that can be attached for sliding material) - maybe $35 online?
Well, here is a mini-sluice that is very effective and consists of about 2 feet of ribbed rubber matting and two clothes pins. Global Industrial carries the corrugated mats for $7.90 (Internet 05/26/2013).

You will also need 2 clothes pins.
This post has great photos and is what my friend would call "elegant". See, http://www.arizonagoldprospectors.com/blacksand.htm
